The premise was interesting but the sheer amount of sex scenes with zero connection in addition to the miscommunication trope was a deal breaker for me.

like i should have dnf'd this lol but review coming because netgalley

Unfortunately, this new Meryl Wilsner title really did not work for me.

The plot was exactly as described, but paper thin. Once Elsie and Ginny make it on their honeymoon, the book is essentially just one smut scene after another for a solid 100+ pages. Just...all smut with very little build-up or preamble, and essentially nothing else. Normally, I wouldn't even mind gratuitous smut, but there didn't seem to be any attempt made at keeping the plot and character threads going throughout. It was detailed - overly so, at time, bordering on unnecessary - and did nothing to build connection or raise the stakes between the characters. And speaking of characters, they were insufferable but one-dimensional, almost caricature-like, and held no consistency between scenes. Elsie was a doormat, and Ginny was self-centered, and the supporting characters were all main subjects of an AITA reddit thread (spoiler: yes, you are). The third-act breakup/conflict came out of nowhere and was so unnecessarily dramatic when it had zero reason to be, and the way it was handled made me like the characters even less than I already did.

just ugh all around. lost the one star i was willing to give it when the fmc was like
"i want you to lick my butthole" about five seconds after being extremely timid and nervous and new at queer sex. also. fisting with no lube????? describing an orgasm as a gush of juice? bro i know this is fiction but what are we doing here

Spicy.

Lots of sex without much buildup (both in character and sex).
