This best-friends-to-lovers romance is undeniably cute but boring. Elsie, fresh from a broken engagement, takes her best friend Ginny on her nonrefundable honeymoon—where unspoken feelings finally come to the surface. While the premise is promising and the romance has its sweet moments, too many events feel rehashed, making the story feel slow and predictable.

Overall a fun read. The first half was incredible and everything I want in a romance book. The second half was fine. The conflict was silly and felt forced, but did ultimately add to the story.

I loved this!! The friends-to-lovers is such a great dynamic and I loved the queer representation in Elsie and Ginny’s relationship. I was totally in for their relationship, literally my only complaint about the book is the
period sex, because that’s just not my vibe
but I suppose it was nice to have that represented in a book. Meryl Wilsner is definitely cemented on my must-read authors list with this one!

Edit a week later: dropping from 4.5 to 4.25⭐️because while I did really enjoy this book, I do wish that a few of the sex scenes had been replaced with some more plot development
