4.1 AVERAGE

Enjoyable short read, but nothing extraordinary, I would say. I feel like the concept of the book was good, but the execution disappointed a little. I would have preferred more exposition of the setting as well, to set the theme (the first few pages did this and were good, but it was largely lacking through the rest of the book).

Too Cinematic

The storyline flowed smoothly, and I really appreciated the chance to see how Poirot’s mind works—how he organizes, eliminates, and pieces together the facts. That aspect was very informative and engaging.

As for the ending, I had a sense of where it was heading. While it’s certainly fair and clever, it struck me as too cinematic—perfect for the big screen. I'd say that this ending would work brilliantly as a movie ending, but as a book in the murder-mystery genre, it didn’t leave me fully satisfied.

I am really wowed by the ending.Who could see that coming? Before reading the last chapter,I was bored and put off about a certain things that sounded so fishy, but the ending made up for everything else for me!
