I didn't realise this book was inspired by To Kill A Mockingbird before picking it up but it became pretty obvious early on in the reading. The writing was sharp enough but it all went a bit melodramatic and I didn't enjoy reading the horrible end bit of a street torn apart.

this book was nothing short of stellar. i picked it up on a whim and literally could not bring myself to put it down, so i bought it. it was inspired by [b: To Kill A Mockingbird|2657|To Kill a Mockingbird|Harper Lee|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1361975680s/2657.jpg|3275794] and has the same overwhelming grip that the classic does. it also reminded me of [b: The Lovely Bones|12232938|The Lovely Bones|Alice Sebold|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1457810586s/12232938.jpg|1145090]. in any case, it was amazing, and i recommend it to anyone.

I loved this book. Skunk is such a well written character, the ending almost made me cry. She has a voice that won't be forgotten easily.

3.5 stars. Could talk myself into 4 stars I’m sure. Hard time deciding how I feel about this book. It’s memorable. There’s a lot of topics going on and the characters are wonderful. The weaving of the character and the plot are well done even though it seems a bit messy. There wasn’t a single chapter in the book. It just goes and goes and then it’s over. It’s very much worth reading, but with all the sex and swearing, there’s a fair number of people who wouldn’t be able to get over it and enjoy the story.

Heartbreakingly sad. Tells the story of how the actions of one dysfunctional family have tragic consequences for a lot of people
