DID NOT FINISH

I think this book is good despite DNF'ing, I think it is likely to be the most extensive book on this case and the psychology behind Chris Watts. The first half of the book goes in depth about the events leading up to the crime and the aftermath. The second half is more about psychology i.e. what is narcissism, what is psychology, difference between a sociopath and a psychopath and using Chris Watts as a potential example of these (author does not and cannot officially diagnose Chris Watts as she has not spent time in that position for Chris Watts specifically). I give this book at 3 outta 5 as I DNF just because the latter half of the book loses me a little as it focuses more on the study of psychology. I do think I could pick it back up again and finish at a later date.

Trying to decide between 2 and 3 stars. Decent account of the murders themselves, but I’m uncomfortable with the offering any kind of diagnosing, though she insists she’s not doing so. Review to come.

Good book. I watched this case as it happened in real life. I think I was disappointed most with the writing. Lots of repetition and following the same theories over and over. Not sure if this was the authors first book, I this it could’ve been edited better. The case fascinates me though, I think the novel side of the book depicting the timeline/murder was the better part of the book.

This senseless tragedy was depicted in a well researched and detailed chain of events throughout the book. This is a difficult crime to understand, but the author takes a look at the profile of who/what might lead someone to do such a horrible thing, even if they seem that they wouldn’t be capable of such a thing. She also provides warning signs and education to hopefully prevent future tragedies from occurring.
