I read this book after Accidentally Engaged, and it was pretty obvious to me that this was an earlier book. I thought that the plot as a whole didn't hold up quite as well as Heron's second bookâthe barbershop quartet storyline didn't work that well for me. I also didn't think the enemies-to-lovers arc worked that well; there was nothing specific that was making Amira and Duncan dislike each other, and therefore the animosity felt unnecessary. As the book progressed, though, I liked it more and more, and I loved the way Farah Heron tackled bigotry coming from people the main characters love.
