I think I have found a new series to read. While I feel the cover may be to much for me... it proabably isn't for most :) The only thing I did not like about this book was the swearing, be forewarned if you don't like a lot of F bombs do not read this book. I feel like it was maybe over used a little bit. I get it they are big strong alpha men but even the women were swearing like sailors.
On the positive side I stayed up late 2 nights in a row to read this! I was in love in the first chapter. You feel the couple's struggles, and their feelings. The ups the downs had me on a emotional roller coaster. I feel that's the best kind of book, the one you don't want to put down, it has you feeling what the characters are feeling.
Will continue reading this series!!

My first book by Harper Sloan, I was not disappointed!
Axel tells the story of Izzy and Axel/Reid, they used to be lovers when they were teenagers, only to separate when Axel joins the Marines and Isabelle's life takes a total turn.
Some years pass, and Isabelle is married to Brandon, she's basically chained up to a marriage filled with fear and violence, she becomes broken and completely loses herself. Until one day, she meets up with her long-time friend Dee in secret, only to get beaten to a pulp when she gets back home.
This book brought me to tears, made me laugh my ass off and made me tear up some more. It is just so emotionally charged!
Also, I loved the characters, especially Dee, Sway, Greg and Maddox. Sway is the bomb though, he's so hilarious, the way the author described him made me feel as if he was standing right before my eyes - I wish my hairdresser was Sway, I would not leave the salon just so I could catch up with the gossip.
"Oh my honey Jesus. You did NOT tell Sway that you knew this fine mountain of a man, no you did NOT. Holy goodness Lord above, I need a cold shower after that, girlfriend. You get your pretty little self into my chair and you tell Sway all about it. Every single delectable thing about it, if you know what I mean. Sweet heavens, I need a drink." - Like I said, Sway is the bomb.
But then, there's also Dee, Dee is a fucking badass.
"We watch for a few more seconds. To my fascination, Dee throws all her strength into a move that would make any badass proud. She pulls her hand out farther and literally throws this woman across the room. I think everyone at the table is shocked (...)"
What I couldn't get into so much, was the romance between Axel and Izzy, I thought I would get the real FEELS when they would finally reunite, but ehhh, not really. I can't really explain why, I just felt like the two characters didn't fit each other so well? - I wish I knew what was my problem with romance.
I kinda wanted to avoid talking about this cover, but look at it!!! Ughhh, I can't even, it's so wrong in so many levels!
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book! - 3.75 Stars

Axel was a pretty cute read. I will admit though that the main character, Izzy, did annoy the heck out of me from time to time. Oh god, she was so annoying when she whined and complained in this book. I just wanted to slap her silly. However, Axel was kind of annoying sometimes too. So yeah, they annoyed me sometimes but I ended up loving and enjoying the book.
Now Isabelle, Izzy, was in an abusive relationship for a long ass time. It baffled my mind that she was with him even after she was getting beat up consistently.. but hey, everyone is different I guess. I know for sure that I would've left my husbands ass if he hit me once. Or ya know.. he would get his dick cut off or something drastic and unexpected.
Then there was the whole Axel "mystery" thing which was kind of annoying and super predictable. I mean, once we found out that his foster mom absolutely hated the girl.. well, I figured he wasn't actually dead like she thought. However, reading about their relationship in the early days.. I just didn't see them trying that hard to reach one another. It might be mean of me to say but I'm also basing this off of personal-ish experience with dating someone in the military. Long story short, not dating that guy.. and no he's not dead either. We drifted apart and didn't really try to talk or see one another at one point.
I will say thought that I did like them together. Especially when they were whining or complaining. Another thing that kind of annoyed me was how easy her ex-husband could get past this group of big ass ex-military men. He just walked right past everyone and attacked her a couple of times. This group of men were terrible at protecting her and Dee..

Ahhh, what can I say.....except I have a new fave!! Absolutely loved Axel and Izzy, their story was beautiful.
I think I may have found my new all time favourite book boyfriend - just sayin'!! So glad that there is going to be more books in this series - the other guys in the security firm are gonna have killer stories - so now I am onto the Cage's story..... So looking forward to it!! #corpsecurity

Talk about a hot alpha male!! Axel and Izzy were high school sweethearts, and had life planned out for them. When Axel graduated from school, he entered the Marine Corps with the expectation of coming back for Izzy after his training was over. Circumstances beyond both of their control prevented that from happening, and life moved forward, not pleasantly for either of them. Twelve years later, they run into each other, and both of them have a lot of pent up anger about how their relationship ended.
This was a hot read! If you're in the mood for an over-the-top alpha male and witty banter, this book is something that you should consider!

I loved the story and the characters and I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of the book. All the Corps Security boys sound SO sexy and I am dying to know their stories and who their possible love interests are. From what I can tell, Greg’s story is next and I want it now!
Axel was a super alpha hot which started his character in the right path (this girl loves her some alpha men) but it was hard for me to really love him because the character Isabelle scratched the chalkboard in the back of my head. I wanted her to be his minus her moments of telling everyone that she was strong and could handle everything but then would crumble over the weight of it all. If you have a super hot alpha male then you need a super hot (somewhat) alpha woman to be his companion. That is honestly the only problem I had with this book. It has a long, lost love that is reunited, a good amount of drama, great side characters, and some steamy scenes.
