Amazing start to the series. I absolutely loved this book. I am hooked to the series. Izzy has left her abusive husband and is trying to divorce him. Axel was her high school boyfriend and her first real love. She thought he was dead; he thought she left him. Her best friends Dee and Greg have been doing their best to protect her from her ex but he is one crazy bastard. Greg brings Axel into help him keep Izzy safe. After all this time and so many unresolved issues will Izzy and Axel have a Happily Ever After? And just wait until you meet the rest of Greg and Axel's friends!!!! This is very well written and is a great book. I love Harper's style and her characters are amazeballs!

Reread: 1/2017: 4 stars - this is just me being more picky. Nice little reread. :)

Original read 2/2015: 5 stars

It was a great Alpha-, in your face, I will piss around my territory, do not touch what is mine- male romance. I LOVED the story behind Axel and Izzy, you could feel their passion but it was kind of annoying in the beginning with her always trying to run away and some of the dialogue was a bit wonky. Overall the book was great and I definitely recommend if you love the awesome Alphas!

Super frusterating read. Skimmed a great deal. Took half the book before they addressed the main conflict. Axel is sexy as shit tho!!

Axel is a gritty tale of young lovers given a second chance after heartbreaking life changing events put Isabelle in danger and Axel and Isabelle back in each others lives.

When Isabelle's life is once again in danger after her escape from her abusive ex-husband she allows her friend Greg to set up a consultation with a good friend of his from Corps Security to keep her safe, she would never have believed that the man who was set to protect her would be the love of her love she thought dead.

Axel can't believe the woman who he is charged with protecting is the only woman he ever loved, she broke his heart and soured him on relationships when she disappeared after she promised to be there when he returned from Basic Training.

This book is full of imagery that if you have ever been a victim of domestic violence my disturb you, I know they upset me and I have never been in that situation. However this is a very well written book and those images are a vital part of the make up of the heroine of the book and completely necessary. I don't care for violence for violence sake and I don't even like sex in books just for the sake of throwing in a sex scene, this was done well.

We are also treated to a fantastic love story of young love reunited and the trials they face both apart and together. We do have some rather steamy scenes that bring in the element of sex for the sake of making the story better, it flows and it is natural. There is a whole lot of the F-bomb in this book but to me it made the characters seem more real. No flowery prose in this book as I said gritty but really a great story.

Awwwwwn. This book was just so freaking cute.
Well more like Axel was the sweetest guy ever.
I loved this story. It got me hooked from the very beginning, right until the end.

True love being separated for bullshit reasons, and a past for Iz that makes you want to cry and hug her.
I really loved Iz's character. She's a strong woman and we get to see her grow in this book. And who else to help her be herself again than that beautiful man.

"We are once again Axel and Izzy. Its fucking beautiful."

Axel is just so yummy and sweet. At first I thought he was a bit of a dick, but you understand quickly why and after you fall in love with him instantly.
He's patient and loves Iz so fucking much, it makes you want to have that kind of love in your life.

"Making my dreams come true, Princess. Making my life worth living. Love you so much, baby."

I read this book so fast I didn't even realize I was at the end until it was too late. And when you think a book is too short, you know it's because you enjoyed it.
I did think the book was a little rushed at the end, but still great.
And the epilogue kicked ass, so that's always a plus.

Talk about a hot alpha male!! Axel and Izzy were high school sweethearts, and had life planned out for them. When Axel graduated from school, he entered the Marine Corps with the expectation of coming back for Izzy after his training was over. Circumstances beyond both of their control prevented that from happening, and life moved forward, not pleasantly for either of them. Twelve years later, they run into each other, and both of them have a lot of pent up anger about how their relationship ended.

This was a hot read! If you're in the mood for an over-the-top alpha male and witty banter, this book is something that you should consider!

Axel is hot, Izzy is annoying, and her friends are OTT. There's so much drama in this book, I got whiplash. However, at the end of the day, there's still a cute guy and a fairly good story.

This was the first novel I've read by the lovely Harper Sloan. I met her at a book signing and she was just so chill with her purple glasses and purple hair. She was so funny and easy to talk to. I loved her. So I grabbed this ebook as soon as I left. I freaking loved this book! I could not put it down. Once I started it- it was all I could think about! I rushed home from work and jumped right back in! The story was so well put together and the characters (all of them) just sucked you right into this family unit. NOW- it looks like I'll be having this same experience with the rest of the series.
VERY WELL DONE HARPER SLOAN!!!
