3.5 Hot Alpha Stars.
MAY be spoilers ahead. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Axel, is a pretty intense book, from it's characters to it's story line their loud and cray cray.

Axel and Izzy were high school sweethearts and had a consuming and passionate love until Axel left to join the Marines and then everything basically went to shit. I don't mean that lightly either i mean our pair are headed straight for shits-ville. There's so much that goes down in this book you'll definitely be on your toes.

Yes it sound good doesn't it? Well it would have been if it weren't for the fact i found the writing to be pretty.. wooden at times and Isabel didn't annoy the living shit out of me. Christ's Bones she was annoying.
I think at least half of the story was Isabel avoiding everyone, everything head buried deep in that sandpit. I get it i get it
her parents died, she was in a abusive marriage, she had a miscarriage, she lost the love of her life, she's like the mayoress of shits-ville. But she just ran away from everyone all the damn time! I mean i'm pretty patient but she really was a test to it. The way she reacted when Greg told Axel where she was? Not fuckin' cool.I really liked Greg so that shit did not sit well with me. At all.

But on to the positives of Axel...

Axel, Cage, Locke, Coop, Beck.
Each one is hotter than the next.. (Greg/Cage and Maddox/Locke are my favorites). Each book in the Corps Security series is based on one of these incredibly sexy alpha males. I cannot wait to sink my teeth into the stories of these sexy as sin guys!

The banter from the guys and well just basically everything about them made this book as good as it was for me, so yeah i will definitely be sticking to this series!

Recommend you give it a bash, but if she drives you insane as she did me, just remember the men, they'll help you through!

Absolutely loved this. PB on my PB purchase list. Definite re-read. Cannot wait for the other characters and their stories.

Fucking loved it...girl you write alpha brilliantly..

I guess I have to read it now after seeing all these reviews.

August 6th edit; As soon as my paperback copy comes, I'm reading it again.

Holy shit.

This book was fantastic, it captured me on the first page. The whole story was just so intense.

"Axel Reid, you wake up right now!" I yell. "Get your paws off my tit and call your dick off its search party for my pussy, he found it asshole, now back off"

"Shut up, Izzy. I'm trying to enjoy this." Wide-awake. That jackass is wide-awake, not even small sliver of sleep left in his voice.

I loved the bits of humour that popped amidst all of the sadness and drama.

Most of the time I spent furious that they wouldn't just sit down and talk all their shit out, but in the end, it turned out great.

When you are with me I am free.
My strength. My heart. My everything.
Our love continues forever.

"Love Conquers All", it is perfect. And it is us.

I feel like I've read this a hundred times... and I'll read it a hundred more.

August 2022 reread:
I think this should be rated a little lower (maybe 3 stars) but I keep coming back to it and I still love it so I continually keep it at a solid 4 star.

Oh how I love Axel.. That fine piece of yummy…. UMPH!

Who has always been in love with Izzy!

“She was mine! She is mine! She will always fucking be mine.”

Isabelle, Isabelle, Isabelle, oh how I wish that I would run into a fine specimen first love like Axel. This book was absolutely five stars! I did not want to put the book down the entire time I was reading it. I loved Isabelle although after I realized I was not talking to a ghost I would have walked up and stuck my tongue down Axel’s throat. I loved the characters and the only complaint that I had about the book is that I felt that Axel needed more time in the book and not so much on the other character’s who will have there own books at some point …

3.5 stars!

I liked it but...it didn't meet my expectations.

The writing is ok, kind of got on my nerves though. Izzy annoyed the shit out of me for more then half of the book. She's a weak heroine and I know she's been through a lot but she depends on other people way too much. I loved Axel and all the other guys but I agree with everyone else when they say these characters resemble Kristen Ashley's Alpha Males. It's not necessarily a bad thing but just not...original.

The crazy part is that despite the things I didn't like about this book, I still want to read the other books. I'm curious about the other characters and I've been told her writing improves with each book so I'm definitely open to giving her another chance.

Book is way too melodramatic, made it completely unbelievable. Isabel's backstory was over-the-top, she didn't really have a personality just the tragic backstory. And she collapsed at the hint of a problem. At one point another character told her she was the strongest person he knew and I laughed out loud. Everyone around her treated her like glass. The lack of communication between Isabelle and Axel got to the point of the ridiculous. Why wouldn't she want to talk to him - she thought he was dead and she didn't even want an explanation? It was so nonsensical.

And Axel was too much too. I get the alpha thing, but it was taken too far in this book. He became a caricature of the alpha-male - no depth.

Spoiler She does finally take a stand at the end, but then falls apart again - she even managed to pull attention from someone who'd been shot in the chest. She had a head injury, but the paramedics said there was nothing wrong with her even though she was unconscious.

I think this story has so much promise! I did find Izzy a tad annoying. But the thing that I disliked even more was the constant use of the 'f' word. It was everywhere! Let me say that I swear and have used the 'f' word before, but in this book it's honestly everywhere excessively! I counted 5 times on one page and not just that one time! I think the impact of the story would be have been just as successful if other words were used. I can't stand listening to people talk with the 'f' word every other word, there's no way I can handle reading it. I have debated continuing to read the series and maybe I'll come back to it when I have nothing else to read.
