Overall I liked the pacing of this book and the storyline. A few things drug out that in my opinion could and should have been resolved earlier. I was glad Axel and Izzy got their HEA. The secondary characters were good and I especially loved Greg. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

Wow, I absolutely loved this book! Started out with a bang, the middle kind of drug for me but ended up with a bang! Love Axel, so much alpha hotness.

Fate has been a cruel bitch to both Izzy and Axel keeping them apart for 12 very long years filled with pain. Izzy married and was abused by her husband before escaping. When she needs help, Axel surprisingly makes an appearance back in her life. Can they let all of the past hurt go to become what they once were?

The sex scenes were

"Missed you...so fucking much, Princess"

DID NOT FINISH

I really wanted to like this one. Not only because all my GR friends were gushing about it but because I always enjoy when a former couple is reunited. But this just wasn't for me. I disliked this one so much that I ended up giving up about half way thru which I really hate doing.

There were several reasons why I couldn't finish this:
#1 - overuse of the words 'Baby doll' 'fuck' 'fucking' and 'girl'
Now, I am not one that’s big on nicknames so they already have a tendency to annoy the crap out of me. When they are overused my annoyance triples.

Greg must have called Izzy ‘baby doll’ in every other sentence. In fact, I did a word count and he said it like 90 times. Considering he’s a secondary character, I thought this was a bit overkill.

I noticed the same thing with 'girl.' Almost all the guys called Izzy ‘girl’ (as in "girl, you so crazy") throughout the book. Does anyone else find it odd that these macho guys were using this term of endearment (if you can even call it that)? 'Girl' is what my 50-year old female co-worker says, not some bad ass guys.

Last but certainly not least, is overuse of the word fuck or fucking. Now listen, I am all about using swear words in books. I am not one of those girls that turns their nose up at it. In fact, I usually really enjoy a good swear word thrown in here or there – even when it may seem unnecessary. But it was used over 400 times in this book (yes, I did a count on my Kindle). I mean how fucking ridiculous is that?

#2 – Axel
I know, I know – it’s crazy to say that. But I just couldn’t handle him. I’m all about the alpha male but he was over the top. And his anger seemed out of control. I can understand why Izzy would be afraid of him at times especially given her past.

And the main reason why I couldn’t finish this one…

#3 – Izzy
If I couldn’t handle Axel then I could not handle Izzy. She drove me insane. I was hoping for this strong female character that rose above the turmoil in her life and came out better because of it. And instead I got a weak, whiny idiot who constantly overreacted. Enough with the pity party already – we know everything you’ve been through. There is no denying that it sucked and was tough. But eventually you have got to move on. It is not healthy. And the lashing out at people trying to help you (like Greg)? Ridiculous. Get over yourself…seriously.

Needless to say, this was not my cup of tea. I’ll definitely be passing on the other books in this series.

First book from Harper Sloan, this has been on my list for a while & I’m glad I finally got around to reading this book. The first half had me needing more because I almost couldn’t handle the angst & then the second half had me swoon but on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I really appreciated that this story didn’t wait too long to really give us the backstory for each of the characters. I felt for Izzy, right from the start. I loved the progression of this story despite wanting to shake the characters so that they could finally get their happy ending. There was tension and emotional highs throughout the entire book. It kept me coming back for more because I needed to know how this story would go & what would happen. Every up & down along the way had me falling right along with the characters.

I loved Izzy because she was so strong despite everything that life threw at her. There were moments where I wanted to jump into the story so that I could shake her & tell her to do it so she could be happy. I loved Axel because even when he was so mad, he still cared about Izzy & wanted to help her. I loved his cocky confidence & how he oozed sex appeal right off the pages. I loved their relationship & banter between them. I loved Dee, Greg & the rest of Corps Security. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series so that I can fall even more in love with each of these characters.

OMFG I floved this book. I'm definitely going to read the series.
this story had every emotion u can think of. love the banter. I was actually smiling for our couple and the shit they went through with also the fact they havent seen each other for 12 years...fate was on their side.
I also loved how the story is mainly told in her POV but there were a few times we heard from his POV which was sweet and needed.
I love me some ALPHA marine men even this story doesn't deal with any backflash previous duties. it seems the stories will only be about them in the present and not so much of them when they used to fight. currently they all are self-own security detail of all sorts.
I'm so glad for their HEA but now the stories continue on to the next one so I will read them. I feel so giddy.

I started this book earlier today, and could NOT put it down! It is 2:37am. What an amazingly emotional roller coaster of a story. I am in love with this story, it's characters, it's soul deep feeling, and everything in between! A-fucking-mazing read!!

I loved the first half of the book. The chemistry was great. Holy Alpha male!

I sooooo wanted to love this book...but I didn't :(
The beginning wasn't bad, I was actually quite impressed and I loved Izzy. But then Axel showed up and I didn't like him AT ALL. There was absolutely no chemistry between him and Izzy. I felt like I was reading a bad replica of a Kristen Ashley book. Because let's face it, she's the queen of alpha male.
Axel was all alpha male, but it was poorly delivered so instead me thinking he's the hottest dude evaaah I just found him mean, arrogant and annoying. I did finish the book, because I wanted to see how it ended, but juuust barely.

Oh,and there were so many inconsistencies in the book. First Izzy thinks Axel didn't come back for her, then she thinks he's dead, then she thinks he didn't love her and didn't come back for her AGAIN etc.

Plus, she hears he's dead from his EVIL foster mother (who HATES him) and she believes her.. then he comes back and she has NO IDEA how that's possible. Seriously? Go beg the Wizard of Oz for a brain.

...
Although I guess it wasn't all bad, because I did like the final few chapters.
