A rate it a 5/5 mostly because it’s a vibe to read before bed but it’s a child’s/teenager book so it does lack detailed writing. I would also loved more detailed monologues and also more world building.

The best of the early books in my opinion. It was only now that I’ve read the book as physical book rather than listen to it as an audiobook that I’ve appreciate how brilliantly twisty the final 100 pages of the book is! The momentum rockets back and forth and despite knowing exactly what was going to happen I couldn’t put it down. Dementors also to this day fill me with horror and disgust. My parents had great pleasure teasing me about my (quite right) horror of the idea of the Dementors kiss, the bastards. The fact that this is the wizarding worlds method of execution demonstrates how much brutal their world is. Lastly Crookshanks is unrealistically intelligent and it’s only this read through that I’ve really appreciated it.
