Not knowing that this book was in homage to Little Women, I was pleased with how the author deviated from the classic story in modern ways while still keeping the theme of  sisterly bond at the forefront.

I’ve growing exhausted of perspective shifts in contemporary novels, but this one does it beautifully. The perspectives  seamlessly drift in and out of the same narrative (rather than retelling a conflict from multiple people’s POV) and creates a beautiful flow to the story.

The hype surrounding this book is well deserved, and I’m so glad I got my hands on a copy at the library!

A wonderfully moving story of a family of sisters and how their relationships ebb and flow as the years pass by. Though they encounter more than their share of love, loss, gains, and lows, their integral connection can be felt through all those that observe their actions.

I appreciated especially the authors note that detailed the research that went into this book from how one would obtain a PhD in history all the way to researching the town and the likely street the sisters would have lived on during that time.

A worthwhile read for any literary fiction reader.

Based on how much I loved Dear Edward and the pre release hype, I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, I struggled through the first third of the book. At one point even considered not finishing. However, the more I read, the more I became invested in the story of William and Sylvie.  I did not like Julie or Rose,  and perhaps that dislike caused my disappointment with the story, especially in the first half. Lots of people loved this book, and you may be one, then again, maybe not.

Very strong character development and beautiful prose. However, it is rather slow and tedious at times.
