Given my usual opinion on books in this series I was pleasantly surprised by this one. While it had the same issues of dragging and over repetition as the other books I felt like it happened less often.

Once again, I don’t really enjoy Rhysand’s POV all the much. Something about the way he talked/thought about Feyre felt off to me. Not to mention a lot of his side of things seemed to be concerned over the extremely sus age gap between him and Feyre. I understand it’s fantasy and I can uncomfortably hand wave that sort of thing, it really rubbed me the wrong way their 516-ish year age gap with dismissed with the ab*sive relationship between his parents that had a 882 year age gap. Maybe it’s foreshadowing Rhysand turning into his father.

I will also note that this felt like a really strong starting point to build Rhysand and Feyre as budding villains. Something about their behaviour/thoughts just established this for me, but that could be wistful thinking.

Outside of that, I enjoyed the non-Feyre and Rhysand characters and their dynamics. This felt like a good way to build up to Silver Flames and I’m interested to see how/if the characters grow and develop relationships (and by characters I mean Elain and Azriel.)

Since I’ve loved books 1-3 dearly, I was left kinda disappointed with A Court of Frost and Starlight. It’s way thinner than the other parts and lacks thrill due to the swiftches of perspective. It was nice to get to know each character better and understand the plot but I’m glad I’ve finished reading it.

We love a slice of life. That's what's great about this - it's a total break from the intense plot of the rest of the series so far.

Misses 4 stars for me because the book, while a good & easy read, missed a depth that would have pushed it over the top. Really liked it though!

**2023 REREAD**

ACOFAS is exactly the fluffy holiday novella I expected it to be. Is it fantastic? No. But it was cute and fluffy. A good transition between the original ACOTAR trilogy and the continuation. 3 stars.

Feyre and Rhys, the high lord and lady of the Night Court, are taking a much-needed break from rebuilding their Court and strengthening ties with the other Courts to celebrate the Winter Solstice with their close friends and family.

There's not much action in this novella. A little bit of 'catching up' with the other courts and a lot of reflection on the war and the effect it had on all of the people and the land, physically and mentally. The characters hope that a lot of healing will take place during the Solstice celebration, and they each try to find the right gifts for each other.

Of course, it just had to have the man thinking about sex, and one graphic sex scene, and this combination ruined the book. It is degrading towards women. If a man told me he wanted to bury himself inside me, and only wanted to pound me, I'd walk away. That's not romantic, that is a man asserting his dominance over HIS woman, (or as called in these books Mate, or Female) without a care for her desires or needs, believing, as men are still taught, that what is good for him IS good for HIS woman. It's about f**king, and that is not love.

Worse is that these books are being marketed to teenagers! Come on, that's BullS**t. Telling girls that being treated like a f**k toy is romantic and that is what a loving, caring, and intimate relationship is supposed to be! NO! It is not. I thought we were trying to empower our young women, not teach them to bow down and be used by a man. Yes, some people enjoy that, but this series is making it sound as if that is the only way love can be shown.

I would be giving these books higher ratings, but...

Enough with the rant. Honestly, this book I could've done without. I'm not saying it was bad, there was a story there, but its plot didn't really match the tone (action) with the actual series. It could've been summed up, the male's violent sexual desires and matching sex scene trashed, (because that is what it is, trash), and that summary placed in the next book. Yeah, that would make that one even longer, but as history shows, the upcoming male-dominant sex scenes that I'm guessing will happen, could be cut out, and thus shortening said book by a hundred pages, and making room for this one.

Stop marketing graphic and semi-abusive porn to teenagers! It's wrong! I would black out all of these scenes before I would allow my teenagers to read them.

This book is good, but not very memorable. It’s like a Christmas special. There is some important information, so I wouldn’t skip it. But not much happens in terms of plot. Some lighthearted moments and overall an easy read.
