It tended to drag on, particularly with the numerous shopping scenes. I couldn't help but think that the book could have been shorter if those scenes were cut out.
The book did manage to make me continue disliking Nesta. To be fair, she's not coping well with the aftermath of the war which explains her behavior towards Cassian and others. On the other hand, Cassian deserves much better than what he gets in the book. I have hope that she might be able to turn things around in the next book and prove herself worthy of his love and attention.
I think it's still worth reading, but you wouldn't miss anything if you didn't.

A lot of people told me they didnât like this book. After reading it, I can understand why they might not; itâs a different kind of book when compared to the series. This one (at least in my opinion) was meant to show the softer side of some characters as well as shed light on their mental health struggles. It wasnât meant to be a fantasy novel. It wasnât meant to be about a huge buildup, conflict, and resolution. It was meant to show that even fantastical character have struggles. Even High Fae have to deal with the mundane/boring parts of life. The novel was meant to humanize the series, not continue to storyline.
I truly enjoyed getting to know each beloved character better. Everybodyâs personality quirks really got their moment to shine! Relationships between a lot of the characters were deepened, some rifts widened in heartbreaking ways, and ALL the characters were addressing some heavy feelings/emotions. A huge thank you to SJM for taking the time to acknowledge, complicated emotions and concepts like grief, guilt, PTSD, and self esteem.
So, 4 of 5 stars for the book this is, not for the series people want it to fit into.

Rating: 5/5 stars.
There really arenât words for just how much I love this one. Itâs calm and itâs sweet and itâs quiet and itâs beautiful. Itâs a warm hug and the perfect love letter to incredible characters and coda for the first part of the series. Absolute perfection.

A holiday novella, A Court of Frost and Starlight follows Feyreâs first Winter Solstice as
This one is a bit controversial, but hereâs my hot take. Anyone who says this isnât a required read is WRONG and I will die on this hill. For me, it reads like an extended epilogue to ACOWAR, in the absolute best way, including a ton of set-up for events to come in A Court of Silver Flames. Plus, who doesnât love a fluffy holiday romance?

âYou were born on the longest night of the year. You were meant to be at my side from the very beginningâ
This is such a cute winter special kind of story. A little bit to show how the Night Court fambam is doing. How the Archeron sisters (Elain and Nesta) are coping and adjusting to the new life. Swoon-worthy scenes between Rhys and Feyre. Especially when Rhys finally revealed where he gets her dresses from! Iâm sure Iâll miss them a lot since the next book is a Nesta POV. Speaking of, itâs also a cute sneak-peek of Nesta x Cassian tandem.
Iâm happy to use my Audible credit for this dramatized adaptation. I canât find a physical copy of this book anywhere in PH so I opted to just listen on audiobook. Taking a break from this series and might read the next one on February.
