An interesting addition to the Duskwalker world. Lindiwe and Weldir were definitely the most mysterious characters in the main series so it was interesting to have their perspectives. As is was more a collection of perspectives over the years, there wasn't really an overall plot like the other books but it made sense as it was showing the progression of the characters. The rating is low becasue of some cringe language and the world building elements that are like Earth and history but slightly changed in a way that made me confused.

Sacr1fic3d to appease the demons, Lindiwe is saved by a demi-god. With no physical body, Weldir needs her to harvest souls to empower him and help him create offspring to assist with that task. In exchange for her soul, Lindiwe binds herself to Weldir and becomes an immortal phantom. As the years pass, she carries out his bidding, finding herself trapped in a loveless relationship and hunted by her own children. Weldir recognizes his mate's distress, but is it too late to give her the emotional and physical connection she so desperately craves?
I shouldn't have started this at the end of the day because the unfinished story haunted me throughout the night until I finally caved and picked it up way too early in the morning. Lindi is faced with the task of watching the world change from the outside. Feeling more alone than ever, her children only fill the void so much. I think Weldir needed a good reality check. He bound her soul to him, but only after 90 years does he realize something's wrong. I do love how he pulled off those last few scenes because it was nice to see them finally get a win. There's so much hope for them, it's unreal. Lindi and Weldir created more than a legacy, but the story is just starting. I absolutely can't wait to see where this one goes because everything Opal writes is gold, and I know she's about to take us on a fantastic ride!
