Spoilers if you haven't read/finished the Duskwalker Bride series below!!

I have been waiting for Wielder and Lindiwe's story since I first started A Soul to Keep, and it did not disappoint! I was sucked in from the job, and even though we know the ending of their story, it was nice to go back to the beginning. I never realized how long they had been together, and how many children they had before the main series starts.

Lindie is living with her parents on a modest farm when one night she is taken from her home, and brought to the Veil's edge for sacrifice. The demons have just started appearing, and the Veil had just started to form, so cult leaders thought sacrificing virgin's would help. Spoiler alert, it does not. But Wielder spoke with Lidie before she could die, and offered her a deal. Become his mate, help bring him souls, and at least try for offspring. Neither of them knew that they would produce Duskwalkers. Their first time was nothing like how it would really happen, and incredibly painful and awkward for Lindie.

Since Wielder is a god, and Lindie is a human, there is a lot of miscommunication in the book. But like Opal warned us in the beginning, it's not something they can just talk about. They both had a lot to learn about each other, but in the end, they start to make it work and it was so rewarding.

Gleeful Goblin Review: Having been thoroughly enamored of this series forever now, I was THRILLED that I'd get to see where so much of this world began in terms of the Mavka and the traditions we come to know throughout the Duskwalker series. The Witch Owl is a character who we get to know in tiny bits and pieces, and the lore of the Mavka is similarly scattered throughout. We see where and how The Witch Owl and therefore the Mavka come into existence as well as the start of The Veil, Phantoms, and so much more. I'm over the moon to have this expansion to the world that I love so much. 5/5 Stars
