What a lovely book. It took me awhile to get into it, but I'm glad I stuck with it and continued on. The town if full of interesting and quirky characters. The town itself is tucked with corners and crannies, as well as the bookstore the family is trying to save. There is an interesting literary mystery in the story to get the plot moving, but more importantly the story is about a family that's hurting that finds its way back to each other.

I tried to listen to the audiobook version and it was just not doing it for me so it took me awhile to get into the book. I ended up really enjoying it though. The main character and her friends are very sweet and I really liked the overall plot and character development. I didn’t realize until I finished the book that it is by the same person who wrote the Mother Daughter Bookclub Books which in retrospect made a lot of sense.

Okay so when I picked up this book I didn't think I would like it very much and it took me a while to get into it but once I did OMG I LOVED IT. That ending was one of the best endings ever and I actually teared up which isn't uncommon but I just really liked this story.

Such a cute, cozy mystery!
I loved the characters, could feel their embarrassment secondhand, and rooted for them the entire time! A perfect book that shows the good and bad sides of family and friends wrapped in a nice winter bow. And lots of Shakespeare quotes! Plus, as a birder myself, I loved all the bird references!
While the beginning of the book was slow, the last 200 pages flew by! I can't wait to read the next one.

This book has so much heart! It even made me sob towards the end! Again because it's a middle reader I figured out the mystery too quickly. But I feel like this book makes up for that by giving you a realistic small town setting and a father figure worth crying the whole book over.

I would have liked a deeper mystery in the book. It starts off well, but after a while the book becomes a pain to read since it always slides off to consecutive, useless-to-the-plot chapters. By the time the author realizes she actually has to write the main plot, I'm already bored to death with the useless "yada-yada" of the main character's insecurities. The mystery isn't that great either, and one of the more unimportant climaxes of the story was basically an anticlimax; nothing happens and all the "effort" put in to finding the Charlotte's Web burglar ends in a disappointing ending; literally nothing happens. Plus, the real climax was also disappointing, I would have liked it to describe the after-effects of the mystery but no, the author decides to end it in some unfinished resolution I didn't care about in the end.

This book was an absolute delight! It was the perfect mix of the family elements of the Vanderbeekers series and small town charm of Gilmore Girls. I've already requested the second book in the series from my library.
