Wow!! What a powerful story! Thank you to @bookfunnel and @fawkespress for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for feedback.

This book is about two young girls of different races (Hazel and Lily), set in the summer of 1945. They share a passion for good books and enjoy the kindness and friendship of one another. However, during the time of the Jim Crow South, these two girls have to face hardships and confront racism in their small town. They are learning all throughout the book to understand one another and to stand up to injustices when they arise. I loved how much empathy came from this story and loved the friendship that these two girls had with one another - Katie, great work! The Author’s Note was also really good, learning about how much research and background information came into play when writing this book. Definitely a must-read!! ❤️
