We FINALLY get to meet "The Guy Who Hates It When They Put Corn in the Chili." And he is designed to rub you the wrong way from the very beginning. But Mia's grandmother needs Mia to get a little close and friendly with Corn-Chili Guy, aka J.P., so J.P.'s father might drop a big on a luxury island she's determined to purchase. Which is why Mia and J.P., along with several other recurring characters, are all thrown together for a benefit musical for both the Genovian olive growers and the senior graduation fund.

So this might be my least-favorite of the Princess Diaries books, but it's still okay, for me. Cabot is really setting up the final conflicts for the series, here. It's pretty obvious that her contract went from "maybe we want another" to a very defined series, so it's all building up. Looking forward to the next two books, where Mia undergoes some serious character growth.

I listened to the audio version, for me it really flew by! I was interested throughout the whole book. This has a bit of drama, complaining and some cute moments between Michael and Mia!

I really hate every single book in this series--they all read like an idle 1997 IM chat session between two 13 year-olds. No matter how old Mia gets it's still the same tone, no growth or maturity.
