I was a big fan of the plot and the FMC. The FMC, Mari, is fiesty, strong-willed, and curious. She starts the book as an illiterate, starving girl and goes into the Seat determined to make her life better. Along the way, she decides to make life better for all people in the kingdom - she just has to figure out how to do it. I love how she’s always surprising other characters and I’m a big fan of the way she punches first and thinks later.
This book is a hunger games meets ACOTAR with dragons (sexy dragons). This is the first RH book I have read, and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. This would be a great book for someone new to RH.
There are a lot of unanswered questions from this book that I really hope are answered in the next book. The cliffhanger at the end has me impatiently waiting to read the new book when it releases. The constant back and forth with the princes (can we trust them or not) makes me curious to see how the story will play out.
