Heartstopper Volume 4

Once again a reread, and still it gets better at every one. I first read this book when starting to develop my ED a year and a half ago, now that I have dealed with most of my difficulties I can see Charlie's thoughts and fears about treatment from a nearly-healed person. And oml this one really hit hard. I've seen myself in Charlie uncountable times but mostly on this book and I just couldn't stop crying with Nick's support to Charlie and how much I wished I had someone like him with me when I was at my worst.

The fourth volume in the Heartstopper series. The beautiful illustrations continue to showcase the emotional depth of all characters. The book is separated into two parts. Personally, I felt this impacted the flow of the story with the latter part written as a reflective chapter. The book focuses on Charlie's mental health journey which is navigated sensitively throughout. A great graphic novel series for all readers.

like i liked this as a continuation of the series. i feel like i didnt get as much as the lovey dovey cushy teen romance aspect in the tradish sense?? like they said i love you in this book and i think there were tons of cute moments. but it was mainly working through the discovery of charlies anorexia diagnosis and him going into treatment for that and their experience as a couple navigating that. and i think that is like a very worthwhile topic to pursue and i enjoyed the journaling format as they tried to discover that and come to conclusiosn about like what to do and i think it was very real and raw and good and like i enjoyed the book a ton. it was just different than the other ones as i remember them. it has also to be fair been quite a few months since i read the last books. but i like enjoyed this more than fine and think it was a good book all things considered. i particularly liked the OCD diagnosis element because while they made the anorexia diagnosis kinda evident that it was gonna happen the OCD one was less so and i think OCD does really sneak up on folks like that in my experience at least. yeah. idk. i really did enjoy it. so 3.75 stars
