There would be no powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will upon a fellow-creature. A kind intention or a cruel intention made the act seem no less a crime as she looked upon it in that brief moment of illumination.

Honestly don’t know the exact day I read this but mood. Just the idea of getting married and staying married to one person and to have nothing different or new has been v off putting in the past year
while this book was simple, it held itself with a strong message. you can't help but feel bad for mrs. mallard at the end of the book: the feeling of finally being free and having control over your own life being abruptly taken away by that same person who took it before. its a saddening book from an outside perspective and knowing that many marriages back then consisted of the husband controlling the wife's life.

Oh wow! That was an amazing story.
It won't take even 30 minutes to read this. So if you are in mood for an amazing twist, go for it. That's it

Let me keep this brief as 'The Story of an Hour' is exuberant yet pithy - a beautiful depiction of victorian women's attitudes toward marriage and more specifically the restrictions
It is quite compelling to read that the murder of Louise's husband filled her with such joy she died of heart disease, superbly melodramatic! Short read and very enjoyable, i recommend!!
