Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with this novel. Cade and Iris were high school sweethearts who broke up due Cade's immaturity. seven years later, he's now a billionaire with a kid and he still acts like a teenager. Iris becomes a sheriff still fighting her feelings for him and of course offers to help him with his son who's a little smartass. The banter was entertaining but a bit overdone. Just not what I expected from this author.

“Sure. Just remember that feelings don’t have lungs. You do.”
“What?”
“They don’t get tired. So you can keep running, but they’ll catch up.”

predictable “twist”, honestly a whole lot of nothing happened again… only reading out of curiosity and needing something to listen to while knitting. It wasn’t very good and I probably won’t read this author after completing this trilogy.

I'm torn on this because Penelope Bloom's writing is amazing, like seriously might have found a new favourite. I was laughing on nearly every page. Cade was hilarious but I loved the way he thought about things and his brain wrapped itself around sayings and things. He was the definition of witty.
Something about his character felt so effortless and it was the amazing writing that kept you feeling that way because he was always in character - every action was so Cade that it couldn't not feel real and effortless.
On the downside, the plot bored me a little...similarly with the romance. It just felt lacking. It seemed like there was only sex between them, there was no deeper connection other than the fact they used to date and they "saw the real them" which is the worst cop-out for a romance ever. Give them common ground, a shared hobby - hell even two unrelated hobbies that are weird so they b0nd over how they're always made fun of for their hobbies! I don't know - literally anything to make them feel like they have a real relationship connection.
I'm giving this a 3 star because I adored the writing and the characters individually, but the romance fell so flat and the plot was obvious and a little anti-climactic.

Brother 2

I liked this one more than the second. Cade was fun with his slightly off the wall personality. Same goes for Iris.

Liked the first one more

Sad to say that this one was not quite as good as the previous book. The best character in this one is Grammy.

Lived this one the most

I really loved these two characters out of the 6 of them and Bear just really made it so much better. this story had everything the drama, the spice and a part that had you on edge.
funny lighthearted

Anyone But Cade

Anyone But Cade is a second chance romance that will have you rooting for Cade to persuade Iris that he has changed but is still the same. He is still the boy she fell for in school but he is so much more now. And when he needs help raising the son he has just found out about, he cant think of someone who would be more perfect than Iris. I love their relationship in this book because they compliment one another so well and even one another out. Cade has a mischievous side that Iris needs in her life so that she doesn’t take everything so seriously. While Iris balances Cade with her even thinking and temper. Don’t miss the second King brother fall.
