Incident at Absalom Station is a serviceable adventure with some definite problems in terms of its balance. Given that it is the first of Starfinder's adventure paths, it's clear to see that the adventure clearly needed a bit more care and playtesting to smooth out potential issues with the balance.

Indeed, this is one of the most lethal adventures I have yet to encounter in roleplaying games, and while that does not mean it is the hardest, it does present potential issues for players just getting into the game. The final combat sequence in this adventure is one of the most unfair in the series so far, and will require some careful construction for GMs who aren't so keen on seeing player mutiny before the adventure has truly begun.

That being said, the rest of what is included in this adventure path is pretty excellent. Art here is quite excellent, and the collection of creatures in the end matter is one of the best I've seen the series produce. The inclusion of information pertaining to Starfinder's Absalom Station is valuable to anyone seeking to build an adventure set in the station, though most of that information is now available in the Pact Worlds setting book.

On the whole, this was an adventure that I genuinely liked, with some truly excellent set pieces. That said, the end of the adventure has the potential to completely sour the experience of the game, since the difficulty to second-level players at that point ventures straight into the territory of the unfair. Nevertheless, this is a promising start to a new system, and I love what the book sets up.

Intriguing beginning to the first Starfinder campaign. Should be enough to give the GM an idea of the flavor of the game and run a fun campaign for the players.
