The book was very entertaining, and E.M. Forster is a really witty writer. Lucy was the only character I liked, and it was only in the 3/4th mark of the book when I actually admired her personality and sense of independence. Everyone else was unfortunately annoying or didn’t have much substance to them (George). The book does make me much more desperate to actually visit Italy, especially with how atmospheric and important the writing of the setting was.

not for me. a few really nice lines in chapters 19/20, and interesting themes of social expectations, class, women's roles and honesty versus pretense, but the execution just didn't work for me. too bad, i really wanted to like it.
