This was an audio book that my partner and I listened to together. It was quite funny at times and I enjoyed the voice of the author. He covered serious topics with humor and it was enjoyable to hear him speak frankly about becoming a parent for the first time. We mostly fast forwarded through his wife’s readings though. While we hate to admit it, we just couldn’t listen to her voice.
Overall, this one was entertaining but not one that I would be set on recommending to friends.

I love Mike Birbiglia, and have already watched the stand up show of this, so this was an extension of that, so of course I enjoyed it, the poems are great segues between chapters and I laughed a lot. highly recommend.

I am neither a father nor about to become one but this book about a comedian fumbling his way reluctantly through fatherhood was a very enjoyable read. Fans of Birbiglia will recognize his humor and delivery as well as his poignant storytelling as he pairs his experience being a father with his wife's experience of being a mother through her poetry. Great insight into the other side of parenthood we don't see as much that will still have you laughing out loud.

Humourous, but not hilarious, and touching account of early parenthood.
Recommended to people who are struggling thru those early days themselves.
