This is the sort of thoughtful silliness that I just adore.
Let Levar Burton read it to you, that will enhance your experience.

Bookclub read. Overall, easy enough to read even though I would not choose this for myself. Some of the stories were far better and enjoyable than others.

Unfortunately, these stories were super hit or miss for me.
The first couple I enjoyed but then I almost completely lost interest.

The titular story is fantastic and as always I enjoyed the Helene Tursten story, but this is another weirdly mis-marketed holiday anthology. The copy is all about the stories being delightful and funny but most of them are really dark and for some reason a whole bunch of them don't even happen on Christmas?? Just call it winter noir or something.

A mix of short stories by a variety of authors. Some good, some not, most in the middle. Very few are actually related to Christmas. Others just sort of tagged it as Christmas Day to fit the theme.

The stories I enjoyed:
* An Elderly Lady (she is back- like the books- in her devious "Christmas" spirit!)
* There's Only One Father Christmas, Right? (cute story about an imposter thief of a Santa- all for a good cause)
* Jane and the Midnight Clear- an Austen short story, very period but effective
* Supper with Miss Shivers (best of the lot, written by Peter Lovesey- unexpected holiday twist, with family at the center, and what rally happened to her mom/dad all those years ago....)

During the Holidays when time is shorter I love to read short story mysteries and this anthology was just perfect for the season.  The stories range from cozy to hardboiled, historical and modern.  I was familiar with most of the authors but there were a few pleasant surprises.  Enjoy

I only read the stories I wanted to read.
