Absolutely ridiculous...I was captured by the fish hook of absurdity to be entertained beyond expectations and sensibility.

Get ready for adventure!

What more can you ask for in a book? Sisters devoted to each other as they make their way through society- check. Handsome cads bent on living for themselves-check. Sea monsters-check check and check!

I loved this book. When I first started it I wasn't really sure where it was going to go, but since I've already read S&S w/o Sea Monsters a hundred times, and will 100 more, I gave it a shot. I eased into the pages (kindle style) fairly slowly, but the farther I got, the more I appreciated the amazing combination of Austenian social convention and incredible dry humor. The changes to the characters and the settings made me laugh out loud more often than not - I especially loved Colonel Brandon, and the recurring references to him - and I really appreciated what Winters did to make the plot stay cohesive and authentic while at the same time changing nearly everything.

Oh, and there are pirates. And an orangutan.

It was awesome.

It was ok. Most of the time the sea monster aspects felt a bit wedged into the story. I thought mentioning the servants so explicitly was great to see, as Jane Austen ignores them so completely.

My biggest problem is-- why doesn't everyone live inland if there's attacking sea monsters?

So same story as original, in fact a lot of original text was used. But now there is a sea monster element. It was still just as dull and hard to get through though.

Amusing. See also my review for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Sea Monsters definitely made this better, but no amount of leviathans can make me interested in Austen.

Quite disappointing because I really enjoyed "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." I just couldn't get into it.

Hahahahahahaha! Really, this was great. I liked it better than Pride & Prejudice & Zombies...the sea monsters were woven in better, I think. A great way to get kids interested in classics, I think, or a new spin for those of us who already like them.
