The story of these women is amazing and truly inspiring to a young reporter like me. However I wasn’t the biggest fan of how the book was written. I wish the stories were woven together move rather than going one at a time . I also felt that at times the story suffered from too many side stories about other people of the era. It became hard to keep track of at times. I also wish there was more about the time the women spent working together. I was very excited to reach the part where they are all united but it felt like that was breezed past. I also don’t like that the main chapters end with the bail out storyline and then the rest of the loose ends are tied up in a very long epilogue. That felt like a bit of a cop out for someone who didn’t know how to wrap up the story. Nina is my favorite by far and I wish we could’ve heard more about her relationship with RBG but I know there’s only so much you can fit in. Overall a great story but I didn’t love the book.

Weird scope and feels incomplete even though the topic is interesting!

3.5 stars. This was a cool concept, but I wish I could’ve listened to it as a longform podcast instead. Lisa Napoli makes a lot of references to early NPR episodes, and it would’ve been nice to have a better understanding of what those early audio pieces sounded like. Also, Napoli writes like a radio journalist, which would have worked great for a script, but was a little harder to digest in book form.

Interesting, inspiring. Will make me pay more attention to NPR. Never considered Cokie as a nickname
