First five star read of 2024!! Thanks to the booktokers out there who recommended it :) loved it from start to finish.

IM SO HAPPY I FINALLY FOUND IT. i read this a few months ago but couldn't remember the name. this is one of my absolute favourite books!!!

Liked it a lot!

Kim Lamey teaches photography in Melbourne, Australia. When she is approached by a man with an American accent, little does she know that her world is about to fall apart.

Without giving away any spoilers, Kim sets off on a journey to try to make sense of everything she has just found out.

A heart wrenching tale of families, human fraility, beliefs and how circumstancesake you do things you never would have otherwise.

A lovely debut book by the author, Christian White. I'll certainly be on the lookout for more of his books.

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the review copy of this book

Super creepy (with snakes?!) and original!

Kimberly is a photography teacher living in Australia when she is contacted by an American who believes that over twenty years ago, Kimberly was a toddler who was kidnapped from Kentucky.

Kimberly cannot fathom that her mother who passed away a few years ago could be responsible for kidnapping her.

Jack and Molly Went are the parents to a toddler, and two other children when their youngest is taken from their home. They were already having marriage difficulties and when their toddler, Sammy, disappears, they grow further apart.

Eventually, Kim is given proof that she and Sammy are the same person, she travels to Kentucky to visit the family she has never known. She also wants to find out how she was abducted.

The Pentecostal church provides support to Molly as she grieves the loss of Sammy, and it also may be at the center of mystery of what happened to her.

The Nowhere Child is exciting, original, and hooked me right from the start. There are twists and turns, and I loved the vivid sense of both settings- Australia and Kentucky. The cult aspects enthralled me with their super creepiness. Well-done, fresh, and engaging, just how I like my suspense stories.

Thanks to Minotaur Books/St. Martin’s Press for the complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Holy twists and turns. A 2-year-old goes missing and a brother never gives up hope that she will be found. He follows clues, hunts people down, and questions everything until he follows the right path and meets Kim Leamy who ends up being his long-lost sister Sammy. That is just the beginning. Kim returns to the US after living with her family in Australia and the lies begin to unravel. The truth starts to come out but what she learns doesn’t even seem real.

This is a book where there are good guys and bad guys. Sometimes the lines are blurred and I was not always sure that I was getting the entire truth from anyone. I doubted so many stories, I wanted to disbelieve some that were the truth, and believed some that weren’t so true. With each piece of Kim’s life that falls into place, another puzzle comes to light. Who took her? Why did they take her?

Oh My Gosh…. I was so enthralled with Christian White’s book. I couldn’t stop reading, I kept guessing, I kept putting pieces together hoping that what I was figuring out couldn’t be what really happens. Pick up this book, read this story. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspense novel that is full of twists and turns.
