I sped through the first 200 pages or so in a day, so clearly I enjoyed reading this even though I found it a bit precious. I was willing to overlook that because I liked Soline and Anson’s story.

Around page 300 though, I wanted to throw the book across the room. The “twist” was so over the top that even though I saw it coming

(my note: Please don’t tell me that Assia actually survived and is somehow connected/related to Rory)

I put the book down and couldn’t touch it for two days I was so exasperated.

From that point on, the book completely jumped the shark for me. It was one amazing coincidence after another, and it was just too perfect.

Also, Rory is 23 and Hux, her doctor fiancé, has been missing for ten months. How old is Hux? And how old was Rory when they met?

And… Rory is 23 and Camilla is what, 45? She married awfully young, which doesn’t seem to line up with her description of her family. So Soline must be about 65, and I kept imagining her as a chic 80 year old because of how she was described.

Also, Thia. For Cynthia.

Too many holes in the logic of this for me to lose myself in it.

Believe in Magic

I believe that some books come into our lives at the correct time. This book happened into my life and I was open to the magic. Yes, it is a happy ending, yes you will have figured out some of the journey, if not all. Open your heart to it and don’t dissect it too much. Enjoy the journey of love, anguish and hope. May we all find our happy endings.
