Loved this book - couldn't put the second half down. Love the writing! I felt like I really connected to the characters.
I absolutely loved the characters in this book, so much that I wish I was a member of their family. This story was detailed, sweet, impactful, and just lovely. Once I finally started it, I finished it that same day. This author is a beautiful story teller and I am so pleased every time I pick up one of her books.
Love. Love. Love. I mean literally a theme of this book, but that’s not why I picked it up. The “dreamy” image of a dress maker in Paris was enough to start reading, but the inspiring characters and motivational plot kept me going. I don’t want to spoil it, but I really got chills as I read part of it because I felt like I was there. Definitely highly recommended!
The end was kind of corny with all the coincidences but I mean they do tell you it’s going to be a happy ending in the title soooo…

Honestly, at the beginning I was a bit worried that I wouldn't like it as much, but as I kept reading, the story got better and better. The intergenerational relationships/trauma was fleshed out, the plot was really interesting, and I got truly invested in the story. However, I would've like the magick aspect of it to be resolved at the end (like passed down from Solene to Rory) or at least given some form of closure.
4.5⭐
I had tears streaming down the cheeks by the end. Initially, I found it hard to get into, particularly Solines past as I didn't quite connect to her and Anson's love story... But Rory's story captivated me from the beginning, as the book went on though I loved Solines POV.
A story about forging your own path, hope and believing in love. Truly a fairy tale set in the reality of our dark history of war.
