I liked Soline’s story a lot and did not care much for Rory’s. I think it would have been a higher rating if the story was just Soline’s POV.

3/5 STARS

Bookclub book that isn’t my usual genre.

I probably would have liked it better if I had read the book rather than listened to the audio book.  The narrator for Solene had the thickest French accent and it was so distracting.

The whole story was extremely predictable

The idea of the book is great. However, halfway through the book it becomes completely unbelievable. The plot twist is so bad, I got so mad I spent all this time only to read this lazy ending.

I had a hard time getting into this book; the first part was SLOW and felt like it took forever to get to the point. Then, it finally picked up, but the ending was predictable, and it was wrapped up a little too quickly for one of the storylines. However, I enjoy historical romances and liked that the modern timeline was set in the 1980s, so we could enjoy the characters from the past (in their "current" age) a little younger than they would have been if it had been set a couple of decades later.
