This was a very slow book at first, I knew little to nothing about it when I started reading so I wasn't expecting it to be twisty-turny, pleasantly surprised for sure! I had some parts of the ending figured out early on and thought I had it all figured puy. I was pretty smug about it ngl, but the unexpected hit and was so satisfying.
The one thing I don't love is I went into this book thinking it was a stand alone, probably my fault for not researching it first, so the cliff hanger was a doozy.

Moderate: Child abuse, Domestic abuse, Adult/minor relationship, Death of parent, Incest, Addiction, and Confinement

the amount of different characters did give me a whiplash because I got confused quite a bit.
charlie was kind of annoying at the beginning too but she changed my mind by fighting for vince. vince was my absolute favourite though.
Moderate: Alcohol, Blood, Toxic relationship, Adult/minor relationship, Alcoholism, and Murder
Minor: Injury/Injury detail

I am so in love with the protagonists. I'm very excited for the second in this duology.
Moderate: Abandonment, Death, Gore, Panic attacks/disorders, Addiction, Drug use, and Incest
Minor: Adult/minor relationship
I did put a warning for inc3st because one antagonist has an unhealthy love for a relative and it's not gratuitious but it's also not dealt with in a way where it feels like a necessary plot point. It explains an obsession but its narratively underdeveloped and that makes it stand out in a way that feels like it's not treated the most appropriately. The protagonist is trained by an adult but nothing physically/sexually abusive happens. There are people who think that it happens, and that is talked about. Two protagonists are drugged, as well as one supporting character. There are mentions of characters that we never meet struggling with addiction, and having addiction being used as a manipulation tactic. There are family dynamics of abandonment and abuse. Ultimately, the content comes across as being a natural complex part of the world and dealt with in a way that feels real to the tone and plot, and not used as "edgy" flavor.betweentheshelves's review against another edition
