Great book I read it in one day. It a quick fun book that pulls at your heart strings. I really didn't know how it was going to end. It was up in the air for a minute there. I really did love it and the characters changed so much throughout that you really care what happens. You hate some you love some, it great.

Clearly I should have been sleeping, but this book is the kind that makes you pull an all-nighter to finish it. Definite can't stop reading.

It's so cute and heartwarming and burst with positivity. The part I love the most is how wonderful the characters are, especially the friends and family of Simon when they stand up for him when he was being bullied because of his different identity. It's like they're living in some kind of utopian world but not—they are themselves are very humane with their ups and downs.

Simon himself is perfectly imperfect. He could be oblivious and irritating sometimes, but because he's a flawed human just like everybody else. And that doesn't make him deserves to be treated down.

Seriously though why can't we people in real world treat other nicely & equally regardless their identities?

The romance is cute, but the friendship in this book is also wonderful. Abby is a little bit too... perfect? I get it why Leah is jealous of her, lol. But I love Abby and Leah too. And I love the dynamics of Simon's family. Again, they're not picture-perfect, they can be a bit overbearing buuut the parents do their job in parenting, and kids being kids. I especially love how the father relearned how to respect his son.

Overall this book is so heartwarming but also very earnest, complete with the awkward part. The awkward part is important to be acknowledged because, duh, it's there. But it's okay, that's what makes us human. uwu.

"It is definitely annoying that straight (and white, for that matter) is the default, and that the only people who have to think about their identity are the ones who don’t fit that mold. Straight people really should have to come out, and the more awkward it is, the better. Awkwardness should be a requirement."

3.5-4/ 5. Thoroughly charming, devoured it in one sitting. A bit simplistic and YA for me now but wish it had been around when I was a teenager!

This book took a while for me to get into the story when I started reading it. After I got past the first few chapters, however, the characters and story took full form and I was sucked in. I ended up reading this book in less than half a day, and it really is an important story featuring an important topic that all people should know about. The plot and characters were my favorite part of this book, because they are so relatable and real. Overall, this book impressed me and definitely deserves the hype surrounding it. I can't wait to see the movie when it comes out!
