I understood maybe 15% of the science here. Space is scary. Physics is scary. Cosmology is scary.
I enjoyed what I was able to read of this book, but there is just a bit too much physics for me. I just couldn't understand much of it. What I could understand is fascinating. After a while, the read became a slog because there was just too much stuff I really didn't get. So I didn't finish. Usually I give DNF books one star, but since I did enjoy what I read, I went with 2 stars on this one.
Does a pretty good job of explaining the general idea behind some of the possible "End of the universe scenario" without getting bogged down in the technicalities.
Do you like to know more about the fundamentals of the universe? Are you an astrophysics nerd? Are you just curious about what happened that led to us being in this tiny blue marble surrounded by this mind-boggingly large universe? Maybe give this book a try
Extra points for doing this in such an approachable way (I don't think there are really any equations in the book).
Extra extra bonus points for not leading me to question my entire existence by diving into the absolutely mind-bending world of quantum mechanics too much.

I never knew the universe could end in so many different ways! The heat death, the big rip, the vacuum, etc. It's the kind of stuff you may find yourself thinking about late at night (and perhaps scrolling through dozens of Wikipedia pages on theoretical physics, or is that just me?). Dr. Mack's writing style is very approachable, even for the lay person with a mere liberal arts degree like myself. She's funny, and you're going to want to read the footnotes. Really.
