Wow, what a book! Incredibly dense with information and incredible how much a dense person like myself could take out of this book. Introduces you to a great many aspects of modern physics and offers more than what I expected to learn. Looking forward to more books by Katie Mack!

There's no plan, there's no hand on the rein
As Mack explained, there will be darkness again
- No Plan (Hozier)
And she sure did! This song has single-handedly dragged me through several existential crises and it was finally time to read The End of Everything. The way Mack explains everything from the basics to high theoretical concepts in a way that someone without any background in the matter can (mostly) understand is admirable. Accessible yet challenging enough to really exercise the brain. And she does all that while being very funny, relevant, and putting things in perspective.
Extremely well written, expansive introduction to the various theories of astrophysics and yet very accessible to the lay reader. The theme of the end of the universe acts to bind together the different theories and at the same time keeps the reader hooked on a topic that has to be morbidly fascinating at the least. Definitely one of the better science books I have read.

Entertainingly cheeky at times, never taking itself too seriously, yet chock full of interesting information. A fun read.
Very compelling read of the possible ways of impending cosmic doom. Topics are explained very well, with tongue in cheek, and therefore a captivating read. You'll have the idea of being in the middle of all the cool and ground-breaking science being done, and the book makes you hope for a happy ending, at least in terms of putting the 'final' puzzle pieces together. Curious to see what it'll turn out to be!
A STELLAR book! I’ve been following Katie for quite some time, and appreciate her ability to make an extremely complex subject understandable. I’m a science & math nerd, and I love everything to do with the cosmos, and this book gives you a good idea about the many ways our universe operates, as well as possible beginnings & endings.
I knew our universe was vast, but as laid out in this book, what I imagined, based on reading scientific literature, and of course, all those sci-fi movies, tv, & books, just increased by magnitudes!
I can’t describe how much I loved this book, any better than by saying This Is One Book I Will Buy, because I want to dive deeper into the chapters, and the reference material.
And there are other Astro-physicists I follow, whose books I’m finally going to read, that she mentions as well.
If you are remotely interested in space, and the many possible aspects of the study of it, read this book.
And if you know young people who are interested, this is an excellent book for them, in spite of the title!

WE ARE ALL DOOMED AND NOTHING MATTERS. That may be, but Katie Mack eases you so gently into the destruction of the universe that by the end, you are almost disappointed that you wont witness any of it. Cleverly written, very concise and easy to follow for the armchair cosmologists out there.
