This took a decent amount of time to read, but man. How cool is learning about the end of everything?? I recently got to see a solar eclipse in the path of full totality, and damn, does that make you think about the end of the universe. I'm going to ramble on for a bit, so bear with me.
To begin, I wish I knew during my undergrad that I could have studied astrophysics. Second, I think the book does a great job of explaining the various ways the universe could end. While reading, I found myself thinking, “Haha! I don’t feel safe!” Katie Mack is excellent in taking this information and explaining it to the reader in a way that is not only entertaining, but it also makes sense.
(Even if I think every ending explained should be an installation in a museum that I can walk around explore and turn over until the reality of it all sinks into my brain)
Who knew that contemplating the possibilities of our universe's end could be such a beautiful experience

I WILL FINISH IT, I just need something else right now. Really good though.
I thought the topics were really interesting to me, I appreciated the way the author broke down really complex topics and made them understandable to me.
Mack does a wonderful job of dumbing things down for us. This relatively short book is packed full of info that is wholly new to me. While most of the book focuses on the future of our universe, Mack does give us a short intro into the birth and history of the universe that served as a nice refresher course for those of us who haven't discussed this topic since high school. Quite a bit will go over your head, but you won't feel as though you are drowning in quantum physics talk. High three stars. If I had to nitpick, I would say I wish Mack didn't reach for a corny laugh every paragraph. I get it, astrophysics can be dry, but she overdoes it quite a bit with the nerd humor.

Definitivamente deprimente. E muito bom. Rekindled a minha vontade de estudar Física seriamente :)

This was a pretty fun book. It deals with some complicated topics, but is fairly easy to read. It could have taken a little more time though and expanded a bit.

This book was much too smart for me and I maybe understood half of it, but that didn't spoil it. The enormity and complexity of the universe lends perspective to my little existence. My favorite fact: the most abundant element in the human body is hydrogen, which was created at the beginning of the universe, during the big bang, so humans are literally made of big bang stuff. It's mind-boggling that pieces of me existed billions of years ago and will continue on long after I'm gone.
