Kim's dream is coming true, she's married to the love of her life, is pregnant with their first child, and somehow they finagled their dream house at way below the asking price. Yet, she can't shake the feeling that something is wrong.
This book grasps the character's deepest fear by the antennas and takes it for a horrific ride. It's quick, dark, and horrifying, making you want to reach for the bug spray and the moving van and get the heck out of dodge. Bleh. I love the unease and escalation, the growing sense of dread and potential paranoia.
I've been itching to read this and am grateful to have finally gotten a copy. There has not been anything I've read of Ahlborn's yet that I wouldn't read again or recommend to fellow horror/thriller readers.

'“This is stupid,” she whispered. “You’re being so stupid.” Because really, it was just a bug.'
There is such a visceral reaction to bug horror. All those creepy crawly skittering legs and exploring antennae. Goosebumps and jump scares just waiting to happen. I like bugs, but I wouldn't want to be a new mom in a new house driven nuts by a cockroach infestation. Which is exactly where poor bug-hating Kim is at. It's a nightmare. You won't believe all the places these roaches turn up and the extreme lengths they drive Kim to. Quick and nasty read!
'It was the house. It was getting under her skin. Burrowing beneath it.'
