I loved this in audio. It was such a different take on a world war two story, I didn't want it to end.
DNF. Started off holding my attention as the characters and setting were introduced, I got about 30% into it and just couldn't get excited about picking it up.

Epic adventures of Cristabel, Flossy and Digby. Starts when Cristabel is only 4 years old and her father brings home a new stepmother to their large estate in England. Spans 25 years of her and her half siblings/cousin strange family dynamics and through their roles in fighting during WW11.
3 stars for the first half of the book, 5 stars for the second half. The first half moved so slow but in the second half I see the need for the full backstory because it added to the depth of character that made the second half so good.
Overall I’d highly recommend this book and just encourage readers to power through the slow parts.
The book left me feeling such a deep love for my siblings. “I loved you before you were born and I love you after you are gone. All that is left is love.”
The way the author wrote of death and grief were such beautiful and accurate depictions, I will hold onto the words for a long time.
