Another Wyndham classic. I have been enjoying his carefully considered and imaginative storytelling this year. Even if there are misogynistic moments here and there that show it's age. But Midwich Cuckoos was definitely one where Wyndham's imagination really came out strongly.
Unusually for Wyndham the ending came as such a shock to me that I choked back tears.
I will definitely be trying to listen to more Wyndham before my Audible trial runs out! As ever, support your local library!

This book was a fun quick read. I loved the end, and the tension in the story

Would be interesting to compare this to the actual book (this was a two part radio program). Very interesting to see how the role of the Children changes from part 1 (the women are distressed, the men can’t much be bothered) to part 2 (for the most part the women still love their children while the men want them to die). Really enjoyed how much the dialogue would split off in gendered pairs for a comparison of how everyone discussed what was happening.
