The PCT being the backdrop of the story was enjoyable (as someone who is a trail angel and whose spouse hiked it). It was a slice of who hikes the PCT and the various reasons why. I would have appreciated more in the second half for character development, but understand that would have been nearly an entirely different book.
I was left with one question - where does one even shower in Warner Springs?!

This book was so refreshing. I truly enjoyed the hiking adventure, the perseverance, the character and relationship development, and the plot twists and turns.
The reality of coming out, and not being accepted by parents is a harsh but accurate experience for many, especially in religious families. I truly thought this was a beautiful story of accepting oneself and overcoming adversity and homophobia.
Highly recommend!

This exceeded the first book in the series by 700 miles. (wink) Ben and Alexei are so well developed and their arcs are wonderfully executed, although the third act split with no communication when their whole schtick had been communication was a slight sour note. I understood the reasoning behind it so it didn't bother me too much, but still. Overall way way better installment in the series, and I'm looking forward to the third one.

I really enjoyed this. It had main characters with emotional baggage and meaningful conversations, but also all the cute "awww" moments that make rom-coms so fun to read. The setting of the Pacific Coast Trail was also really interesting to me, as well as a reminder that, as in the trail, people can come into and put of our lives in ways that are meaningful, even if they are short. Trail social norms are also a reminder that it's okay if not all people are your people.

I'm actually surprised by how much I liked this! It's generally hard for me to get into contemporary romance, but I really enjoyed the hiking trail setting and everything that it added to the story. I also think Ben and Alexei were both well developed characters! This was just exactly the kind of read I needed at the moment, quick and easy to read but also heartfelt and dealt with some heavy topics too.
I will say the side characters were pretty much all the same; witty and funny. I guess this witty friend trope is pretty common for romance but it gets tiring really fast, especially when it's most of the side characters we meet.
But overall I had a good time reading this! This was just filled with love for nature and I think that's what made this book so sincere and enjoyable. Also well developed MCs and a romance that I actually believed in and rooted for!
