A fee specific arcs stand out and this is one of them

Season of Mists is another fantastic volume of The Sandman, even better than the previous one, Dream Country. Unlike Dream Country which was self-contained short stories, Season of Mists is a full story arc. The way Gaiman blends so many elements (mythology, contemporary fantasy, horror, historical fiction, metaphysics) so smoothly is really something. I actually find that to be true of much of his work (American Gods is another good example). Although it’s Gaiman that makes The Sandman great, there is some quality art here as well.

Another great volume of Sandman, just below number 2 would say. Being a horror fan think that one made me like that more. But this is still oh so wonderful. Plus, we get to see far more of the endless in this one. Which is a highlight to be sure. Onto the re-read of 5.

The fourth volume of the Sandman series follows Morpheus as he faces the consequences of his past decisions, finding himself in a situation not entirely to his likely. Again supported by superb illustrations throughout.

I got so close to the end and just couldn't stand it anymore.... This wasn't just too dark for me, the elephant in the room annoyed me no end. Sure, this probably wasn't the best Gaiman book to start with, and I love the premise....but it's pretty clear that in order for this sort of thing to happen, everyone is inherently bad and goes to hell (where many enjoy being punished way too much). How are all the burdened keepers of darkness to manage all the misery? Well, here's where I jumped the tracks. In reality, while there can be no light without darkness, this word is presented as darkness with no light, and hence, just seemed so darned illogical to me. Might still try a Gaiman novel, but, despite the good illustrations, I'm going to pass on more sandman.
