My favorite so far, this collection probably kick-started his plans for American Gods.

Dream likes things on his own terms: when a human lover rejects him before he can grow tired of her he condems her to Hell. 10,000 tears later his siblings meet and convince him this was unfair. So he has to travel to Hell to release her. However, Lucifer is not happy with him after his last visit...

My favorite of the series so far. Dream is given the keys to Hell when Lucifer quits. He entertains a multitude of creatures from various mythologies who want to control it. A deal is struck.

Blew me away - intricate workmanship that's extremely gripping!

I really like the way - slowly the characters from the previous books are beginning to make an appearance in the next books. It just makes the series all the more interesting 'cause on some level you really didn't expect that. And the icing on the cake isn't just that they are back...but the way they are woven into the narrative is just really really good.

I can't make up my mind if this one or [b:The Sandman, Vol. 2: The Doll's House|92062|The Sandman, Vol. 2 The Doll's House (The Sandman, #2)|Neil Gaiman|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1360299144s/92062.jpg|2648] was the best book so far in the series. Whichever one it is - it just's a photo-finish.

I wish I had read it all in one sitting

The Sandman graphic novels are wonderful to start with, and this is one of the best that I've read so far. Incorporates many different myths into the storyline and still manages to stay original. Gloriously dark in places.

There was something a little too self-contained in this entry, the introduction of the other Endless, a personal back story for Morpheus, it teeters on feeling a little ... franchise-y? I found the previous 3 volumes more creative and original. However this is just nitpicking, each volume has been a masterpiece so far. Each page is entirely captivating and at the end of it all I can never help but delight at Gaiman playing so expertly with established myths and legends!
