If you ever stop to think about the impossibilities of your own existence, you begin to realize that life itself is sort of a miracle on its own. In a certain way, you're the least likely thing ever to exist. If you think about all the generations that came before you, that culminate in you, all 150, 000 generation of humans that, somehow, met, flirted, dated, perhaps even married and gave birth (and note here that unprotected sex has only a 30% chance of resulting in pregnancy). Now multiply all these odds by all your past generations and you have roughly the amount of what impossible sums up to. But here you are. If that doesn't knock some air out of your lungs for at least a few seconds then I'm sorry.
The Humans manages to put into perspective everything that being human entales, as if we step out of our bodies for a few hours (quite literally, actually) and realize what a complex and yet so simple species we are as a whole and more important, as singular individuals, as much of a paradox that might sound.
Also kudos for the bunch of references and quotes. Oh and the cover that shines in the dark was a nice touch!

Essentially a book using one device - extraterrestrials’ view on the human race. It turned out to be clever and observant and philosophical. I enjoyed it as an audiobook.

When a human solves a math problem that will unlock the secrets of the universe, an alien race decides humans are not ready for such progressive information. They replace the mathematician with one of their own and set to work eliminating all knowledge of the equation's solution. Unfortunately for the alien sent to earth, he is in for quite a surprise when he is confronted with the paradox that is humanity. Equally fascinated and repelled, he soon comes to love being human in a way that makes readers develop a new appreciation for what it means to be human.
Well written, witty, and laugh-out-loud at times. The ending was a bit predictable, but that's ok. The book was quite enjoyable and refreshing.

I wanted to like this book, and parts of it were very engaging, but others dragged on a bit. I listened to it as an audiobook and that may have been a mistake. It's a challenge to reflect the inner thoughts of an alien - sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.
