Easy read. Enjoyable. Similar to his other works. I now have a strong calling to read some Emily Dickinson, anyone else?

Very successfully got me out of my reading slump
This book had many funny moments and relatable ones as well, plenty of darker, more sad things too. Overall a fine and interesting novel, and I’m not sad I read it. Bit slow, I kind of kept forgetting I was reading it.
Like all of Haig’s works, it’s an interesting premise with a conceit that slowly turns into a wildly prescriptive and contrived manner of regurgitating self-help aphorisms. There is literally a section near the end that is just a list of these.
Far too artificial and sickly sweet and prescriptive for my tastes. I’m completely done with Haig after this. Writing for a different person than me.

Not a bad book (at least at the start), and I liked the premise. "Andrew" was a fun protagonist and some of the emotional beats were executed well. However, towards the end the book starts explaining all the metaphors and plot points in a completely unnecessary way. The point at which it really lost me was the list of cliches for Gulliver... why!!! After that the last part of the book was very predictable and convenient. Could have been a lot better.
