Although The Graveyard Book is written for a younger audience, don't let this deter you from Neil Gaiman's hauntingly beautiful story about Nobody Owens, aka "Bod"—a live boy living with the dead. Spooky yet heartwarming, Bod's adventures in the graveyard start after a tragic event occurs at his house when he is only a baby. As the years go by, Bod begins to question what goes on in the outside world his ghost friends are shielding him from. He learns about horrible things such as suicide, murder, revenge, and violence—and even makes a few mistakes himself—but also learns about the importance of friendship, love, family, and creativity.

I listened to the audiobook and also read the physical copy of The Graveyard Book. I would highly recommend both. The audiobook I listened to (I think there are two versions available) had a great cast, with different voices for each character and good sound effects. The physical book though has wonderful illustrations you don't want to miss out on. Regardless, both formats do Neil Gaiman's novel justice and each add something special to the story.

Overall, I would recommend The Graveyard Book to people of all ages. It tells the tale of a younger boy and is therefore directed towards a younger audience, but Neil Gaiman doesn't simplify his writing or shy away from dark topics.

Love Neil and love this book. I do wish the ending would have lasted a bit longer. There was so much buildup, but the end came too quickly.

Picked this up for Morgan Long’s book club. As y’all can see I finished this in 24 hours which is WILD for me. It’s the perfect amount of spooky but not scary. It transports you to the graveyard with Nobody and all the ghost surrounding and I definitely needed that escape. Super whimsical, magical and the perfect easy spooky read for October. The end did end slightly with unanswered questions and I wanted a lil bit more hence why it’s not a perfect 5 stars. But overall SO enchanting. Neil Gaiman can’t do any wrong.
