This book is as beautiful as it is useful. Filled with poems and illustrations as well as instructions, it is a quite romantic look at mending.

Gorgeous illustrations, beautiful philosophy, practical and easy-to-use techniques. I immediately want to buy a copy for myself.

One of the best mending books I have read. I love the discussion of the authors philosophy behind mending. Great step by step instructions of the techniques and the part that i thought was the most genius was the review of using the techniques with common mending issues.

This book is gorgeous and so thoughtfully put together!! There are more advanced mending manuals out there, but this would be a great introduction for someone new to clothing repair, and even as someone with previous sewing and mending experience I found some little tips that will improve my arsenal. I felt the section on armhole mends kind of missed a trick by "assuming you've caught it in time" before the hole becomes a major problem, instead of walking readers through how to manage that difficult mend. But I loved that the Montenegro sisters included some problems less commonly addressed in mending literature, like holes in down jackets/sleeping bags and even (one problem with) wonky zippers. Most appreciated of all are the beautiful illustrations and the gentle philosophy woven throughout, insisting on lovingkindness for and solidarity with not just for the objects that support us, but radiating outward to the people, animals, plants, and ecosystems that contributed to their existence.
