This wasn’t bad I actually found the premise really interesting. I just found the writing too simplistic

3.5 stars rounded up. This might have been the most stressful book I ever read. I fully understand that if everything went right for the characters it would make a boring story. Yet, I have a hard time with stories where everything that could go wrong does go wrong. That’s what you get with Dry. The scariest thing is though is how believable the story is. It shows the dark side of humanity during a time of devastating crisis and how hard that humanity is to hold on to when people are put in desperate situations. I think this is a story that will stick with me for a while.

This was a reread for me (and another one that I’m writing a very late review on) but I think it’s a very poignant book and one that definitely resonates in the wake of changing weather.
I think my complaint was that the characters could be a bit flat and cartoonish at points but other than that it’s a great story. The writing was a little juvenile but it’s young adult so you can’t really fault it for that.

This was a page turner for sure, but I didn't like most of the characters. Anyway if you see me stockpiling bottled water now, know that this book is why.

A little too traumatizing. I read this because it was suggestion of climate change books to use in middle school classrooms. That will be a pass from me.

This has been on my physical TBR for so long I don't recall what initially made me buy this book. I think the premise is interesting and something that actually makes my skin crawl, the inevitable loss of water in California. However, this was such a bore to get through and it just felt like for so much of the opening nothing was happening that was interesting enough. Also the characters are so completely unlikable I can't excuse it just because they're going through some kind of hardship. Eventually it got to a point where I knew I was gonna rate this horribly and I have too many other books calling my name.
