It’s Bridgerton with monsters and knotting, need I go on? Haha

I personally, struggle with some of the word choices used in the spicy scenes, but other than that, this was super fun!!

I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it either. Silas introduction made me dislike him immediately and three chapters didn’t seem adequate to change the reader’s opinion of him despite the fact that Eleanor had. Their “romance” was rushed and seemed based purely on lust. They didn’t communicate their feelings at all until the last couple chapters. I like the author and know her books are steamy but 50-70 percent of the novel was “smut”. I expected more storyline and bonding between the main couple. I will read the next one and hope it doesn’t disappoint. As a book worm, I enjoy reading about heroines that love books as much as I do.

Just an okay read in my opinion; it felt like a book that started and ended with decent plot/lore but the middle was entirely cushioned with smut. Which isn’t a bad thing but at the end it definitely felt like the author suddenly remembered that there needed to be a plot in the story as well, and abruptly transitioned back to more serious matters.

Also the ending felt a bit dragged out especially after Silas realizes his true feelings, the whole charade with the ball itself felt super dragged out. A fun read, but I’m not a fan of somnophilia in the slightest and there wasn’t  as much substance as other C. M. Nacosta stories I fear.

Much spicier than I expected, but no complaints on that front other than some of the descriptions used.... "sweet nectar". I also never like the trope of
"my feelings are too big so I'm going to find another woman to get her out of my system"
.

Needed a better grovel

In all honesty, I do not enjoy the rake trope but I do like this author so I thought I’d give this book a try. The writing was done well, with a few grammatical and spelling errors. I thought the world was interesting - a shared regency world of monsters. Eleanor was a well rounded MC, but Silas just… I hated him. I don’t think a rake’s ways can be changed that quickly and I don’t think the grovel was sufficient.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: author lists triggers at start of book

Unlocked a new monster romance achievement: gargoyle. Even better, it was the most glorious mashup of regency and paranormal romance. As per usual with C.M. Nascosta behind the keyboard, it fires on all cylinders - plot, banter, characters, spice, and HEA.
